Imran urges nation to rise above biradarism, kinship

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Thursday urged the nation to rise above ‘biradarism, kinship, friendships’ by voting for ideology to fulfill the dream of New Pakistan, envisioned by his party, on May 11 elections.

Speaking to a mammoth crowd via a video link at D-Chowk, from the bed of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Lahore, where he is under treatment after falling from a lifter, PTI chief said that the nation would be responsible for future woes if it went for the status quo political parties on May 11 elections.

He also admitted that some mistakes were made while awarding tickets but promptly promised to the nation that any candidate, who failed to meet the party criteria, would be expelled straightaway from the party.

Imran said that he had dreamt of a new Pakistan seventeen years ago and was glad to see that nation is all set to turn his dream into a reality. He urged the PTI volunteers to bring out people from their houses on polling day, adding it is their job now as he had done whatever he could for them.

“Let me repeat whatever I said two days ago…I’ve done whatever I could [and] now it’s your job to take responsibility of your future as I’ve given an alternate choice in shape of PTI…the ball is your court now [and] over to you”, he added.

The PTI chief addressed the people of all the four provinces one by one, before addressing the crowd. He called upon the people of Karachi to vote for PTI candidates to end the violence in the city, saying political parties, having armed groups, would never end terrorism. Imran Khan specially mentioned interior Sindh and stated that he had never seen poverty of such magnitude like that interior Sindh, putting a question to the people of Sindh that how long they would continue to be robbed in the name of Bhuttos.

Religion is being used as tool to exploit people, he added, in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and professional politicians and Baloch Sardars had not allowed development at the local level for their own vested interests.

Speaking to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata, Khan said that they had already made up their minds to reject the old guards of traditional politics by standing with the PTI. He appealed to people of KP to come out including their women on May 11 to change the destiny of the country through power of ballot.

The PTI chief speaking to the people of Punjab without mentioning the names of rivals Sharifs of Raiwind, questioned that a party which failed to change the fate of poor people despite being in power for five times, how it could bring a change for the sixth term.

He asked the people have they [PML-N] changed police system, improved education system or let the local bodies’ election to take place in the province. If your think they have changed all these things, do vote for them but then it will be of no use to cry over spilt milk. He said that Allah has given a golden opportunity to people to get rid of these political parties of status quo which have ruled the country in the last five years.

The PTI chief also took oath from the participants of the rally that they would make collective efforts on May 11 to lay the foundations of new a Pakistan that would ensure voice of justice, eliminate brutality, and where education will not be for the elite class only. We pledge not to bow before anyone else but Allah Almighty and would not beg before anybody and would remain united under the national flag irrespective of colour, cast and creed.

Imran Khan said that he decided to step into politics to change the lives of the people because this was the only possible way to do so and mentioned that problem faced during the seventeen years struggle especially that how he had to lose his family. He expressed gratitude to all the political leaders and people of the country for showing concern and praying for his early recovery.
